First Birthday Mini Albums

I had the pleasure to create four mini albums for these adorable kids first birthdays. The albums are 4×4 and packed with pictures and embellishments. I used decorations from the party to create some of the embellishments. I used the balloons and napkins to wrap around chipboard to make banners. The fringe from the table clothes was used to embellish photos. I cut apart the plates to use the 1′s and borders to embellish the pages. The shiny fringe from the birthday hats was added among the ribbons on the rings binding the album.

There are two girl and two boy albums and I used similar layouts with varying colors to complete the albums.

These banners were covered with napkins and balloons from the party and embellished with baker’s twine, stickers and jewels.

A variety of ribbons and fibers were used on the binder rings to add texture to the albums. An acrylic tag was embellished with “First Birthday” using a gelly roll pen and jewels.

The strips with dots were cut from the plates, the fringe from the table cloth and buttons/jewels with added to further embellish the pages.

These were the general payouts of the pages. Each had a block matted with a solid color. A white gelly roll pen was used to dot-dash around the border of each page. All the photos were matted in white and then a variety of embellishments were added to complete the pages.

Baker’s twine was used to wrap around some of the pages as embellishment. Also there are some more pictures of buttons with jewels that were used. Buttons are perfect to add pops of color to kids albums.

If you are interested in a similar styled album or any other custom album you contact me to start the process. I also have a variety of mini albums that are already completed and ready to be purchased at my Etsy Shop.

Custom Baby Girl Album

Just had a baby? Planning for a baby? Or maybe your little one is growing up and you are looking for a way to record all those special memories! Here is a custom baby album that I made for a customer on Etsy that would be perfect for you! It’s an adorable album for a baby girl with pinks and chocolate brown and could be customized with any colors you wish.

I used a collection of cards received at the baby shower from friends and family. I added pockets throughout to insert the messages from within the cards and additional photos. These were a perfect place to tuck the personal messages left for the family.

Then I added photos throughout on card stock pages and none embellished areas of the cards. In order to fit the maximum number of pictures in the album I added flip out areas to mount extra photos.

I bound it all together with rings and added coordinating ribbons. I included strands of fabric from the baby’s room in with the ribbon as well.

This particular album is 20 pages which gave me 40 total surfaces to utilize. I had a lot of fun making this album and cramming as many memories as possible into a keepsake the family would treasure for a lifetime.

No two custom albums are ever the same, giving you a unique and special way to enjoy your little one’s baby memorabilia and photos. To request a custom album contact me through my Etsy shop.

Spice Organization

I recently reorganized my spices and thought I would share how it turned out. I Love It! It’s so much easier finding everything now. Here is what I started with… a lot of spice containers, jars from Bed Bath & Beyond ($0.99 ea), mesh shelves, and labels. I printed the labels and put them on all the jars ahead of time so I wouldn’t get anything mixed up.

Then I started filling all the jars. Had one spicy smelling kitchen and a nose that tickled for a while afterwards! But it really wasn’t as messy as I thought it was going to be. I love being able to see all the spices in the glass jars… beautiful colors!

Once filled I lined them up on the shelves and was ready to go! I kept all my larger containers of spices/rubs how they were and lined them up next to the shelves. Not sure if I am going to organize these in a similar way or not yet… we are always getting new grilling spices to try out. Right now it is working well for me and only took about an hour, I can easily find everything… time for some new recipes!

First Garden Harvest 2012

Summer is here and things are ready to be picked from the garden. I just picked this mix of red/green bell peppers, anaheim peppers, banana peppers, jalapenos, onions and limes.

I am planning on canning the banana peppers and jalapenos this year. Some peppers and the onions will be used to make salsa, I will be using this amazing recipe I found/altered last year… it was a big hit! I will share the recipe when I get the salsa made sometime in the next month. Bell peppers will be used for dinner… they never do to waste around here. Oh and the limes are perfect for a vodka/gin and tonic.

Father’s Day Cards

I was a little behind in getting a Father’s Day card ready so I needed one quickly and ended up making a few so I could choose which one I liked best. So I put together these three simple cards that have the same design but very in color etc. The paper I used was the oliver paper pad by BasicGrey. I also used some random gears and brads that I had in my stash.

I started with a plain white card base that is 4×5.5 and added the large color block which measured 3.75×5.25. Then I cut various strips, three per card, and snipped the ends into points. Next I added a couple of gears with a brad through the middle strip prior to adhering all three strip down. Last I printed out Happy Father’s Day in three different fonts on white card stock and trimmed them down to size. I slipped one end of the strip under the gears and done!

Summer time is here…

It has already heated up down here in Houston. Back to lawn work and floating in the pool! We have had a lot of butterflies and moths out this year and I have been determined to get a good pic of the gorgeous butterflies. They seem to pass through our yard though and not stick around. This moth did seek out some shade on the porch though and when it opened it wings I was shocked to see the purples/oranges when it looked like a plain ole brown moth with its wings closed. I managed to snag this picture before it took flight again.

Now to capture one of the huge yellow or orange butterflies that have been eluding me.

Mini Album using Authentique Endless & Fair-Weather

Started a 6×6 mini album today using Authentique paper line Endless & Fair-Weather which is beautiful! Here are the pages prepped and ready for the DETAILS! Now for the fun part!

Here I took chipboard letters for Mother and inked them in faded jeans Distress Ink, added a layer of picket fence Distress Crackle paint, and misted with Perfect Pearls mist when dry.

Layered a variety of blue flowers with white brads and then spritzed with Perfect Pearls.

Here is a shot of the whole front color, loving the blues/yellows!

Inside I added more flowers that have been misted with Perfect Pearls and some Baker’s Twine in a variety of coordinating colors.
